A Case of "The Cobbler's Children Don't Have Any Shoes"

From my experience, true fulfillment comes when all parts of us are in alignment, when all parts of us are being nurtured.

I have noticed that a key aspect of this deep contentment is “being on purpose.” Even when everything else in life may be perfect, but we don’t feel that we are living a truly purposeful life, some dissatisfaction will inevitably manifest.

I’d like to share my experience with you. For me, 2015 was an all round fantastic year. My relationship was going from strength to strength. I live in one of the most amazing places in the world, surrounded by beauty and abundance. We had great adventures to exotic locations, like Kauai last year. I was maintaining balance – work, exercise, meditation, great friends, fun. I was living the dream. Everything should be more than perfect. Right?

But still I was experiencing an underlying sense of discontentment, which I tried to talk myself out of, because really, how could I feel anything but gratitude? So why the dissatisfaction?

I realized that I wasn’t 100% aligned with my desire of wanting to contribute more to people in my unique way. I’ve always wanted to be a speaker, however, since changing countries, I hadn’t formed a clear enough intention backed up by a plan of action to make it happen. As an empowerment coach, I “should” know better. Right? After all, this is what I help my clients do.

Wow! Was this another case of “the cobblers children don’t have any shoes”? One more lesson under my belt!

At the end of 2015, I decided that I needed structure, support and accountability. With great appreciation, I remembered the past two coaches I had worked with and the amazing things they helped me achieve.

So, in 2016, I took the plunge and signed up with a business coach to make sure I wasn’t going sell myself short this year, I wanted to start 2016 with a bang!

The results have been amazing, I have been productively working toward my goals with focused intention –  AND I have my first speaking engagement booked! It feels good to be stepping out of the comfort zone again. I know this is where my potential is waiting to be expressed.

Finally, the last puzzle piece of fulfillment has fallen into place and it feels awesome!  It’s kind of like my soul has come here with something to do, learn, and experience and as long as I am on track all is well.

Remember, even when everything in life is going well, if you still feel that you are capable of more, that there is more to life — you are right! Go get it!
